Senok Air completes 400th helicopter air ambulance mission

Senok Air has completed its 400th helicopter air ambulance mission, a landmark covered this month by The Island, which described the achievement as "reinforcing Sri Lanka's critical care lifeline." The figure marks more than a decade of moving critically ill and injured patients from parts of the island where the nearest specialist care is hours away by road, to hospitals equipped to treat them.
Since Senok Air began operating as Sri Lanka's first civil helicopter air ambulance service, every mission has followed the same principle: get a full medical team to the patient, not just an aircraft. Each flight carries a doctor or paramedic trained in flight physiology, airway management and emergency procedures, working alongside the pilot and a ground team that coordinates hospitals, ambulances and, where needed, the fire service — so the handover at either end of the flight is as fast as the flight itself.

400 missions is also a marker of consistency — sustaining a rapid-response service, a trained flight-medical crew, and a fleet of two Airbus H125 helicopters based at Ratmalana, Colombo, over 11 continuous years. As Senok Air's own operations have grown, the airline has increasingly served as the fallback for cases where geography, traffic or time make ground transport too slow. The 400th mission is one entry in that record; the count keeps growing every time the hotline rings.
